    Lepton Flavor Violation at LHC

    Lepton flavor violation (LFV) within the realm of the Standard Model is forbidden. However recent neutrino experiments strongly suggest neutrino oscillations, giving way to LFV. Beyond SM theories, such as supersymmetry and supergravity also allow LFV. This note reviews the possibility of observing LFV signal in the two general purpose LHC experiments: ATLAS and CMS. It is shown that using the initial LHC luminosity, in about a year, either a discovery can be made or the current LFV limits can be enhanced by an order of magnitude.Comment: for 40th moriond EW conf. proceedings, 7 pages, 3 figure

    A Graphical Approach to Radio Frequency Quadrupole Design

    The design of a radio frequency quadrupole, an important section of all ion accelerators, and the calculation of its beam dynamics properties can be achieved using the existing computational tools. These programs, originally designed in 1980s, show effects of aging in their user interfaces and in their output. The authors believe there is room for improvement in both design techniques using a graphical approach and in the amount of analytical calculations before going into CPU burning finite element analysis techniques. Additionally an emphasis on the graphical method of controlling the evolution of the relevant parameters using the drag-to-change paradigm is bound to be beneficial to the designer. A computer code, named DEMIRCI, has been written in C++ to demonstrate these ideas. This tool has been used in the design of Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK)'s 1.5 MeV proton beamline at Saraykoy Nuclear Research and Training Center (SANAEM). DEMIRCI starts with a simple analytical model, calculates the RFQ behavior and produces 3D design files that can be fed to a milling machine.     Fourth Family Neutrinos and the Higgs Boson

    We evaluate the LHC discovery potential for the fourth family Standard Model neutrinos in the process pp→Z/h→ν4νˉ4→WμWμpp\to Z/h\to\nu_{4}{\bar{\nu}_{4}}\to W\mu W\mu. We show that, depending on their masses, the simultaneous discovery of both the Higgs boson and the heavy neutrinos is probable at early stages of LHC operation.     The single production of the lightest E6 isosinglet quark at the LHC

    We study the jet associated production of the new quarks predicted by the E6E_{6} GUT model at the LHC. Generator level considerations are made for different mass values of the lightest of the new quarks to investigate its discovery potential and the prospects for obtaining its mixing angle to the Standard Model quarks. We find that after 100 fb−1^{-1} of data taking, it is possible to discover the new quark with a significance more than 5σ\sigma up to a mass of 1500 GeV.
